Kai Brant is a singer, songwriter, and producer with an extremely avant-garde approach. She began as a blues singer in Southern California and soon learned to play guitar to assist in writing her own material. In 2004 she left for London to try her luck as a solo artist. However, the songs she had written were full of anger and sadness, and she was reminded of these heartbreaking emotions every time they were performed.
Upon returning to Los Angeles, Kai broke away from the more traditional singer-songwriter style and began incorporating beats and loops into her writing. Her first project as a producer was with "Dazy Love" where she collaborated with a poet and soul singer. The project later inspired "The Hat Trix Project" which further combined the previous elements along with dance and art. The result was a collaboration based on community and exploration.
In 2009, Kai decided to once again pursue her original music and went on to release her solo record in 2010. Her self-titled debut features her signature voice, sultry tone, and unique production.
